Screens and emulsion and pattern, oh my!

Acetate prints for screens

The acetate prints will be transferred to the screens through the process of light and emulsion. The black indicates where the dye will be on the fabric. This design is set up to be a repeat…meaning repetition of the screens will line up to create one continuous pattern on a bolt of fabric.

The Screens

The finished screens! I’ve never seen pink emulsion before – I like it!

I finally set up a little printing studio and finished my first project. Here is a sneak peek of my first printed piece.

The start of a pattern.

The November Workshop is working on the happiest quilt ever! It just puts me in a good mood to work with pink and chartreuse and yellow and gray. What a lovely color palette! All thanks to the beautiful fabrics designed and screenprinted by our friend Rachel Walker at Tekstila. (Pics to come soon!) In the meantime, check out Rachel’s work at her website www.rachelannawalker.com or get your hands on her lovely work at her etsy site. Vertigo pillow by Tekstila shown below.

This little lovey doll is a continuation of an earlier post…I’ve got some things to work on, but it’s a start.

I wish there were more hours in the day.  When I finish this stupid architecture exam, there will be.  After the tests and a little  screenprinting, new outfits for E and a new bag for me!image

Stay tuned to see what this will be!

image 008Well, I finally bought some supplies from the artstore.  I have been trying to figure out what to buy for about three years now, so I finally just bought some Speedball stuff.  We’ll see how it works out. It is not like what we used in Denmark.  If it doesn’t work, I’ll research that screenprinting store on Varick Street.  I’m sure they would have everything I need.  I’ll keep you posted on the results.

Esther is posing with the most recent baby quilt from the November Workshop. It is for Baby Lila. Thanks for the order Julia!
